A Can of Kindness

A Can of Kindness style=

We've got something bright and bold brewing to cheer up the bluest of Mondays...

We've partnered with Transition Dundee to help tackle climate change by supporting their Gleaning Project. 216kg of rescued blueberries have been put to good use in our brand new Fruited Session sour beer - Mr Blue Sky.

It's fruity, tangy and sharp - a must try for the sour beer lover. And if you need another reason to get on board, we're donating 35p from every can sold and £10 from every keg sold back to Transition Dundee.

Transition Dundee and The Gleaning Project

Transition Dundee is a community-led social enterprise on a mission to help make Dundee a more sustainable, healthy and happy place to live, enabling future generations and the environment to flourish.

The Gleaning Project helps tackle food waste in the local Dundee - Tayside - Fife area. Excess produce that would otherwise go to waste is hand picked by volunteers to help feed the Dundee and Tayside community as part of the West End Community Fridge.

As a neighbour of Transition, and a proud local business, we were happy to help find a home for over 200kg of blueberries at risk of going bad. Over several days in November the team picked, sorted and washed an endless supply of blueberries by hand before macerating them.

Carbonic maceration is a wine-making technique where fruit and grapes can be broken down by immersing them in a carbon dioxide rich environment. This reaction generates small amounts of alcohol, but plenty of flavour compounds and colour.

We left our basic house-brewed sour beer to sit on the wonderfully macerated berry goodness for two months to slowly breakdown the fruit and pull out the complex blueberry character.

The result is a crisp, tart, completely naturally flavoured sour reminiscent of an off-dry rosé or fruit wine.

Great beer that gives back on the gloomiest day of the year? Yes please!

Available now - go on, make your Blue Monday brighter!
