Seventy One’s Brew Day: Celebrating Women in Brewing for IWCBD

On February 14th, Seventy One Brewing proudly hosted an incredible brew day in honor of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD). Bringing together talented women from breweries across Scotland, we joined forces to create something truly special—a West Coast IPA named ‘West of Sunset’.
We were excited to welcome Cold Town House, Newbarns, Campervan, Closet Brewing, Edinburgh Beer Factory, Heriot-Watt University, and Jump Ship to our brewery for a day of collaboration, creativity, and camaraderie.
West of Sunset: A Bold & Bright Tribute
Inspired by the iconic bright and bitter IPAs of the Pacific Northwest, ‘West of Sunset’ is our take on a crisp, dry, and aromatic ale. Brewed and dry-hopped with Strata and Krush hops from Yakima, this beer boasts medium bitterness with irresistible notes of stone fruit and orange. It’s a perfect homage to the pioneering spirit of women in brewing and the vibrant flavors of the West Coast IPA style.
Brewing for a Cause
More than just a beer, ‘West of Sunset’ supports education and empowerment in the brewing industry. Through the global IWCBD initiative, we’re proud to donate £500 to sponsor four seats for the WSET Beer Level 1 qualification course, helping women advance their knowledge and careers in beer.
Raising a Glass to the Future
IWCBD is all about celebrating women’s contributions to brewing while fostering growth and inclusivity in the industry. This year’s collaboration was a testament to the passion, skill, and community spirit that drive us all.
We can’t wait for you to try ‘West of Sunset’ and raise a glass to the incredible women shaping the future of beer! 🍻
